Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor was founded in 1959 as the Higher Maritime School, to grow into the Faculty in 1981 in accordance with the maritime economy needs with the aim of educating specialized staff at two year and four year studies in the feld of maritime studies (marine engineering, nautics, maritime electronics) and maritime management. In the academic year 1999/2000, Maritime Nautical and Department of Maritime Engineering were founded at the Faculty, at which studies last four years.
Today, in accordance with the Bologna Process, at the Faculty of Maritime Studies there are undergraduate academic and applied studies lasting three years - six semesters.

Fcaculty of Maritime Studies is a modern educational institution within the University of Montenegro which educates professionals in the field of maritime studies, in accordance with international requirements and conventions, both through regular teaching and through training of seamen with application of international standards, using modern and up-to-date equipment. The acquired education and training enable our seamen to find employment on ships of companies throughout the world.
