- Institute of Marine Biology -

Agency for Sea Biology in Kotor, which is the Institute today, was founded in 1961, as the result of the need to organize scientific research in the field of sea biology in the south of the Adriatic sea.
The Institute is in the town of Kotor, in a building with extraordinary constructional and location qualities, which meets entirely the present needs as well as possible future requirements.
The Institute carries out its research activities primarily through the following laboratories:

Laboratory for Biology and Mariculture
- activity: Phytoplankton, Hydrography, Zooplankton, Ichthyology, Bentos, Mariculture

For Neurobiology
- activity: Neurobiology, CNS, Brain research

For Ecophysiology
- activity: Electrophisiology,

For Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- activity: Chemistry of Natural Products, Organic Chemistry, Biochemisty, Molecular Biology and Chemical Ecology, as well as within,
Development Sector for Improvement and Organization of Sea Fishing and Mariculture along with transfer and application of new technologies
- activity: development projects and Mariculture.
