University Units
- Institute of History -
Institute of History represents the
oldest scientific-research institute in
Montenegro. It was founded in Cetinje
in 1948, with a mission to study the history
of Montenegro from the ancient time
until the present day.
The Institute educates experts and
organizes professional development of
researchers, research work and deals with
topics, publishes studies, monographs,
proceedings, collections of documents
and reference books related to the same
topic. The magazine Historical records
(which has been published since 1927) is
a particularly interesting edition.
Through research activities done so
far, organization of scientific meeting (conferences, round tables and public
debates) and cooperation with scientific
institutions and scientists in the country
and abroad, the Institute has proved to be
a reputable scientific institution.
Research work at the Institute is realized
through projects: Development of
the Society and State in Montenegro,
Montenegro in International Relations,
The History of Montenegro and Sources
for the History of Montenegro. The
library of the Institute, apart from books
and magazines, includes also a valuable
archive and memoarist writing.
