The Animal Ecology Research Group comprises six academic staff and four PhD students from University of Montenegro, and an excellent network of collaborators in the Balkan and Europe. Our research strengths cover hydrobiology, from both pure and applied perspectives. Our current research projects include the taxonomy of macroinvertebrates and ecology of spring habitats and intermittent streams.
In 2004, our Research Group formed Centre for Biodiversity (from 2016 Institute for Biodiversity and Ecology) as non-profit independent organisation of international experts in biodiversity and ecology. Main objective of the Animal Research Group is is to create and foster the network of leading biodiversity experts through the provision of services and products to members, including conferences, publications and support for member groups. In addition, to represent the views of members in national and international forums aimed at advancing best practice in biodiversity and ecology research.
Activities of the Ecology Research Group include publishing of scientific journal Ecologica Montenegrina and organization of scientific Symposiums (International Symposium of Ecologists of Montenegro- ISEM) and Workshops, providing information services for society’s members, as well as cooperation and exchange of information with other similar national or international associations.
