FUNK Speakers’ Forum: Media Literacy and Constructive Journalism VS Hatred Speech

As part of the Festival of Art, Science and Culture – FUNK 2025, on October 15 at 12:00 p.m. in the Blue Hall of the Rectorate, a Speakers’ Forum will be held on the topic “Media Literacy and Constructive Journalism VS Hate Speech”, dedicated to dialogue on the role of the media and the public in strengthening social cohesion and combating disinformation.

The event will feature Ombudsman Siniša Bjeković, Elvira Ceković, Assistant Director of the Agency for Audio-visual Media Services, journalist and founder of PCNEN Dragoljub Duško Vuković, and journalist Srdan Kosović, while the moderator will be Milica Nikolić from UNESCO.

This academic dialogue will bring together students, professors, researchers, and media representatives to exchange views on key challenges of contemporary society – social cohesion, hate speech, and disinformation. Special focus will be placed on promoting Media and Information Literacy (MIL) as a tool for recognizing and countering disinformation, as well as on the solution journalism approach, which, instead of spreading division and sensationalism, offers examples of good practice and sustainable responses to hate speech.

The dialogue is conceived as an interactive discussion with short introductory presentations by experts and an open space for student questions and suggestions, with the aim of encouraging a youth-friendly culture of dialogue, developing critical thinking, and jointly creating ideas for a society based on respect and solidarity.
