Assistant Professor Martin Ćalasan Recommended by His Science Papers for Annual Award of the University of Montenegro

Asst. Martin Ćalasan, Ph.D., is awarded for special contribution to development of scientific research and international positioning of the University of Montenegro, for the year 2022, on the proposal of the Council of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering UMNE. The recognition was presented to him by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD at the ceremonial session of the UMNE Senate.

For this recognition of the University, whose winner he was also in 2019/2020, it was recommended by scientific papers published in journals of the prestigious SCI/SCIE lists. In 2022 alone, he published 16 papers with a cumulative impact factor of 96,396. Out of these papers, 13 are from the Q1 magazine category, i.e. of leading international journals ranked in the first 25% of journals according to Scopus ranking, while three papers belong to the Q2 category, ranked in the first 50% of journals.

Published by the leading global publisher Springer, he also published a chapter on the topic of power in modern power systems (Power quality in modern power systems: A case study in Bosnia and Herzegovina) in a book called Modernization of Electric Power Systems.

He published 10 papers at international and domestic conferences and has become editor of four special issues in the journals of the SCI/SCIE list. He was also a member of the Scientific Committee for four international conferences held in Brazil, Albania, Malta and Cyprus, and reviewed about 50 papers in SCI/SCIE journals.

He coordinates bilateral project with Slovenia and takes part in two Horizon projects - the CROSBOW project and TRANSIT, where the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is a partner institution. Research Assoc. Martin Ćalasana, Ph.D., refer to development of semiconductor switches for sensor free control of switching reluctance machines, the development of new methods for estimating the parameters of transformers, asynchronous machines, solar cells and fuel cells, as well as in the field of optimal location of energy storage systems and reactive energy compensation systems in power plants systems. He is a member of several international and national organizations and associations, such as IEEE and CIGRE - International Council for Large Electric Networks. He is the vice-president of the Montenegrin committee of CIGRE, and a member of the study committee A1 - Rotary electric machines of the CG KO CIGRE. He is also the representative of Montenegro in the IEEE PES of Serbia and Montenegro. Ćalasan won a number of awards at international and domestic conferences, as well as the Award of the Ministry of Science for the most successful inventor - innovator for the most successful innovative solution, in 2017; awards of the Fund of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts for encouraging young people - 2020; the prestigious Danubius award for young scientists from Montenegro, in 2021, as well as the award of the Ministry of Science for the best scientific worker of Montenegro in 2022.
