LABORATORY FOR METAL PRODUCTION AND INORGANIC TECHNOLOGIES

Teaching staff: Prof. dr. Mira Vukčević, Doc. dr. Biljana Zlatičanin

Laboratory assistant: Čedomir Milić

After completing laboratory exercises, students are equipped with the skills for successful work in the fields of production and optimization of manufacturing processes (metal and non-metal materials, and chemical engineering). They are capable of selecting materials for specific application conditions and defining parameters for their obtaining and processing. Based on knowledge of material operating conditions, students are able to identify critical material properties, the structure that provides them, as well as the method of obtaining those properties under process conditions. This enables them to successfully address production problems, material characterization, and application, as well as understand the influence of different processing parameters on material properties and behavior during the application period. The knowledge gained through experimental exercises in the laboratory allows students to integrate acquired theoretical and experimental knowledge in the field of Inorganic Chemical Technology and Chemical Engineering.

Study program: Metallurgy and Materials

Courses:

  1. Non-Ferrous Metals Metallurgy
  2. Powder Metallurgy
  3. Refinement Processes
  4. Ceramic Materials
  5. Powder Processing

In some courses, such as Non-Ferrous Metals Metallurgy, undergraduate students perform computational and field exercises. In courses like Powder Metallurgy, Powder Processing, and Ceramic Materials, exercises include mechanical powder production, oxide reduction, and precipitation from metal salt solutions. Microscopic analysis and sieve analysis are performed as techniques for powder characterization. Consolidation is examined using conventional pressing, as well as compacting with or without binders. High-temperature consolidation techniques include hot pressing and solid-state sintering.
