Acknowledgment to professor Željko Jaćimović: Scientific papers, patents and projects rise international recognizability of the University of Montenegro
Professor at the Faculty of Metalurgy and Technology full prof. Željko Jaćimović, PhD, who is presented in the book by the renowned publisher Springer International Publishing as one of the 350 leading scientist in the field of the thermal analysis and calorimetry, is awarded with the Accolade for contribution to the development of scientific research and international positioning of the University of Montenegro.
Professor Jaćimović has published 57 scientific papers in reference international journals from the SCI list. In addition, he published some of the obtained results in international journals (6), conferences in the form of papers printed in their entirety (14) and abstracts (84) of which a significant number were at European and global crystallographic and chemical congresses. As a manager or team member, he has participated in the implementation of significant research and development projects and bilateral projects.

“Every good result obtained in our modest, in terms of equipment, laboratory and published in renowned journals makes me glad again and this year it has been five of them”, said professor Jaćimović, talking about success in 2020, which was a special satisfaction for him during this year.
One of them is a scientific research project obtained through the Eureka financial program.
“This project will enable the laboratory to be additionally equipped and the obtained results will find practical application in medicine – development of diagnostic test strips based on electrochemical (bio)sensors for monitoring concentrations of various disease biomarkers and early prevention”, explains professor Jaćimović.
As a special success, his own and his colleagues from the Faculty of Metalurgy and Technology with cooperation with colleagues from the Biotechnical Faculty, professor Jaćimović singles out “patenting of obtained newly synthesized compounds which are effective (as effective as commercial) fungicides, for controlling the fungus Phomopsis viticola Sacc. the causative agent of grapevine disease known as black spot.
When asked what he thinks he can do a step higher in the future, professor Jaćimović says: “Additional equipment of the laboratory, participation in national and international projects will strengthen the research capacity of the team and contribute to new even better research results for the benefit of the Faculty of Metalurgy and Technology and the University of Montenegro.
The Accolade for special contribution in the development of scientific research, professional and artistic work and international positioning of the University of Montenegro, suggested by the Faculty of Metalurgy and Technology, was awarded to professor Jaćimović by the Rector of the University of Montenegro full prof. Danilo Nikolić, PhD, on the solemn session of the Senate, at the end of 2020.
“I owe gratitude to the home faculty and colleagues who recognized my work and proposed me for receiving this award. I thank the University for the award”, concludes professor Jaćimović with the message that such awards certainly mean a confirmation of dedicated work and stimulus not only to him but also to his associates and students to engage in scientific research as an essentially important part of a natural science such as chemistry.”
