Unforgettable Experience: ERASMUS+ Student Mobility on MET University in Ankara

Student of III year of studies of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro Luka Vojinović writes about his experience of student mobility within Erasmus + exchange, as follows:

Middle East Technical University (METU) in the capital of Turkey, Ankara, is one of the most recognized universities in Turkey. The campus also has numerous facilities for sports activities that are completely free for use by all students, as well as the large Devrim stadium, which is intended for holding various events as well as for the rest and recreation. All lectures are in English and are very well organized. ESN METU (Erasmus Student Network) organization managed to connect all exchange students through various activities.

First week of the semester was exclusively organized for familiarization with all campus contents, assistance was also provided in registering courses we studied at their university. As for accommodation, all students were given three options with roughly similar prices, and the rooms in all three variants had four beds. I noticed that room organization was such that there was always one Erasmus + exchange student with three roommates who are regular students of this faculty.

Erasmus + is a program giving new experiences and new friendships and get to know different cultures. It is very interesting to experience studying in a foreign language and to see how teaching method functions at another faculty. The cooperation with professors at the Faculty of Architecture was outstanding, the professors were always available and ready to advise us on any doubts. The Faculty of Architecture has its own model room and photocopier, which were completely free for students, and also in the faculty building there is a canteen with very reasonable prices for students. The curriculum is very similar to the one at our faculty.

Regarding trips during the semester, we had trips at the beginning of the semester when we visited the western part of Turkey, the cities of Kuşadası, Şirince, Afyonkarahisar and one of the biggest attractions in Turkey, thermal waters in the city of Pamukkale. Later in the semester there wasnt much time to travel, because of classes and exams, but Ankara is a very interesting city in itself and there are a lot of interesting places to visit.

Erasmus + is primarily a cultural exchange program that provides various benefits and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to spend a semester on METU University in Ankara."
