Second international music week, Music in ME 2024, starts today

The International Music Week "Music in ME – Music International Week," a music festival organized by the Music Academy, starts today at 8:00 PM with a concert in the Multimedia Hall of the Ministry of Culture and Media in Cetinje.

Tonight, the audience in Cetinje will enjoy performances by Vladana Perović (piano), Trio Ardor comprising Žana Lekić (flute), Mladen Popović (cello), and Nataša Popović (piano), as well as Tatjana Krkeljić (flute), Nikola Mijajlović (trumpet), and Vladimir Domazetović (piano), featuring compositions by Chopin, Gershwin, Rachmaninoff, among others.

The upcoming festival, running in Cetinje until April 15th, marks one of the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the University of Montenegro under the slogan FuturUM. It will host eminent educators and professors from renowned conservatories in Italy, Spain, and Poland.

Throughout the festival week, concerts are scheduled every evening featuring performances by Roberto Turrin (Italy) on piano, Maciej Zagorski (Poland) on piano, and Pavel Amilcar (Spain) on violin solo. On Friday, April 12th, starting at 2:00 PM at the university campus in Cetinje, the Baroque String Orchestra composed of Music Academy students will give its premiere performance under the guidance of Prof. Pavel Amilcar. In the evening of the same day, a concert by former students Stefan Pavićević, clarinet, and Marija Mitrović, piano, will follow. The festival concludes on April 15th with a performance by Margarita Escarpa (Spain) on guitar.

A crucial part of the upcoming music festival is the Spring Music School, offering young and talented students from Montenegro and the region an excellent opportunity to enhance their skills and musical abilities through various workshops, including individual lessons and music theory classes. Designed to be fun and engaging, the school focuses on fostering an environment for collaboration, support, making new friends, building lasting relationships with other young colleagues sharing the same passion for music, and recognizing the Music Academy of UCG as a choice for further advancement. This year, the Spring School is attended by 57 participants from Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This years special guest lecturer is Katherine Haataja (Finland), who will conduct a masterclass workshop on solo singing for students of secondary music schools in Montenegro.
