Professor Milica Vuković – Stamatović – recipient of the annual award of the University of Montenegro
Dr. Milica Vuković Stamatović, an associate professor at the Faculty of Philology, has received the prestigious annual award from the University of Montenegro for her exceptional contribution to science and education. The award was presented by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović, at the formal session of the UCG Senate. This is the third annual award that Prof. Dr. Vuković Stamatović has received from the University of Montenegro upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Philology Council. She previously received awards in 2019 and 2021.
Dr. Milica Vuković Stamatović is a scholar specializing in discourse analysis, pragmatics, and the teaching of languages for specific purposes. Her contribution to the field of linguistics and applied linguistics is highlighted through the publication of papers in prestigious scientific journals indexed in SSCI and A&HCI databases – Professor Vuković Stamatović is the author and co-author of a total of 26 papers published or accepted for publication in such journals. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Vuković Stamatović is the author and co-author of several chapters in monographs published by Springer and Palgrave Macmillan. She has also published two scientific monographs with the University of Montenegro, while three textbooks on languages for specific purposes are in the process of being published.
In the academic year 2022-2023, Prof. Dr. Vuković Stamatović published several papers and chapters with the aforementioned publishers. One group of these works belongs to the fields of cognitive linguistics and discourse analysis, focusing on the analysis of linguistic realizations of conceptual metaphors in political discourse, as well as deixis and deictic shifting in media discourse. Another group of works pertains to the teaching of English for specific purposes, including the creation of word lists for this type of instruction and lexical profiling of large specialized corpora for the informed selection of reading and listening teaching materials, with a particular focus on English language teaching for science and academic purposes. Her most significant work from this period belongs to the latter group of topics, which Prof. Dr. Vuković Stamatović published as the sole author in the Elsevier journal – Journal of English for Academic Purposes, one of the most significant linguistic journals in the world (journal impact factor – 3).
The works of Prof. Dr. Milica Vuković Stamatović provide valuable insights into various aspects of linguistic communication and contribute to a better understanding of the complexity of linguistic phenomena in different contexts. This award represents a well-deserved recognition of her continuous effort and outstanding contribution to the academic community of the University of Montenegro.
