Beginning of the first accredited summer school in English in Montenegro Marked: Entrepreneurship in legacy tourism

The first accredited English-language summer school in Montenegro, within the lifelong learning program, entitled "Entrepreneurship in heritage tourism" began on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management of the University of Montenegro.

"Entrepreneurship in heritage tourism" is an interdisciplinary program in the field of sustainable tourism, which includes the wider field of tourism based on the valorization of specific cultural-historical and natural resources, its sustainability, entrepreneurial opportunities and advantages in terms of creating new jobs and tourist experiences.

This six-day interdisciplinary and international summer school, which offers 2 ECTS credits, was created as a result of the ERASMUS+ project "Encouraging internationalization at Montenegrin institutions of higher education through effective strategic planning (IESP)".

The first generation of attendees brought together over 20 students and employees in the tourism sector from Montenegro. Some of the leading motives of the participants for participating in the summer school were the improvement of knowledge and skills in the field of entrepreneurship in heritage tourism, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

The summer school was officially opened by the dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Đurđica Perović, PhD, who presented the participants of the summer school with a detailed plan and expected activities during the six-day program.

The first thematic area was related to the development and trends in heritage tourism. Through this thematic unit, the following areas are covered: "Introduction to heritage tourism" and "Sustainable development of heritage tourism", with examples from tourism practice.
