Round Table in the Rectorate of UMNE: Education of Seafarers - June 15

The Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Montenegro is organizing a round table on "Education of Seafarers", on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10.00, at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Capital Investments, the University of Montenegro, the Kotor Maritime High School, the Bar Vocational High School, which trains naval and nautical technicians, the Association of Seafarers' Boarding Associations, the Association of Maritime Captains of Montenegro, and the Union will speak on this topic.

This gathering is of exceptional importance because on June 1, 2022, Art. 114 of the Law on Maritime Safety concerning the education of seafarers and the obligations of educational institutions dealing with the education of seafarers regarding the quality and compliance of curricula with the STCW Convention and IMO course models. The discussion through this round table should indicate how to control the institutions dealing with the education of seafarers, ie how to create a link between the line ministries that, on the one hand, deal with education, and on the other hand the issuance of authorizations in maritime affairs. .
