Onsite evaluation visit for prospective membership in International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU)

The International Association of Maritime Universities is a global network of leading maritime universities providing Maritime Education and Training (MET) of seafarers for the global shipping industry. The Association was founded in 1999 with the headuarters in Tokyo (Japan) and currently has 72 members from 38 countries and all the continents.

After the initinal evaluation of the submitted documentation, International Executive Board (IEB) appointed Dr. Piotr Kopacz from Gdynia Maritime University (Poland) as the IAMU onsite visitor and evaluator. Dr. Kopacz also holds the Master’s Certificate with extensive sea service experience.

The onsite two-day visit was conducted on 1st and 2nd February this year. After a thorough review of the Faculty resources and procedures and conversations with the Faculty staff and students, the final report is to be submitted to the IEB for final decision.

Becoming a member of the International Association of Maritime Universities would be in line with the Facultys five-year development strategy. In addition, the membership in such a specialized and recognized international association of maritime higher institutions would provide the Faculty with an additional recognition, as well as new opportunities in the field of international cooperation and raising the quality of the overall maritime education and training in Montenegro and wider.
