LABORATORY FOR METALLOGRAPHY

In the Laboratory for Metallography, students are trained in the mechanical preparation of samples for microstructural testing using an optical microscope, as well as the examining and recording of the microstructure of metal materials (steel, iron, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, nickel alloys, zinc alloys, welded joints, etc.). The laboratory exercises enable qualitative and quantitative characterization of the microstructure, as well as the prediction of the microstructure of metal materials based on knowledge of phase diagrams and applied thermomechanical conditions. The laboratory also conducts microstructural examinations using an optical microscope on samples of various metal materials, as part of final projects, specialized and masters theses, as well as for research purposes within scientific research projects and doctoral dissertations.
