Invitation to participate in CSI-MONUSEN project activities

To bring scientific issues and methods closer to young people and to involve them in scientific activities in the field of autonomous underwater robotic systems development, the Montenegrin Centre for Underwater Sensor Networks (MONUSEN) invites high school students to participate in project activities in Kumbor on the 27th September 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

High school students as "citizen scientists" will participate in data collection by managing the movement of the autonomous surface vehicle SWAMP (Shallow Water Autonomous Multipurpose Platform), which was designed and constructed in the laboratories of CNR-INM (Italy) in the form of a catamaran, weighing about 40 kg, height 50 cm and length 125 cm.

By recording the control and path of movement of the surface vehicle during remote control for each participant, regardless of the demonstrated skill, the data necessary for machine learning and "training" of the system will be collected, which will be trained to perform the task by imitating (imitating) the activities of the participants. In addition to raising awareness about the application of underwater sensor networks in environmental protection, the acceptance of interaction between robots and people in everyday life will be emphasised.

We invite secondary school students and teachers to attend the MONUSEN centres project activities, which are being organised for the first time in Montenegro. In a healthy, competitive atmosphere, participants will learn why developing autonomous surface vehicles for acquiring and monitoring environmental parameters instead of humans in conditions dangerous to human health is essential.
