New Award at the International Book Fair

This year, the Historical Institute of UoM won the award for the best-equipped book at the International Podgorica Book and Education Fair, held from May 8 to 14, 2022 - for the publication Montenegrin Artillery in the 19th Century, by Radoslav Raspopović and Branko Bogdanović.

It is just one in a series of awards that the Institute of History has received for its publications in previous years. So far, the staff of the Historical Institute has received four awards for the publishing endeavor of the year, at international book fairs: in Belgrade in 1998 for the five-volume collection of documents "Montenegrin Codes 1796-1916. Legal Sources and Political Acts of Importance for the History of Montenegrin Statehood ", in Podgorica for the edition" Monumenta Montenegrina "printed in 19 volumes in 2011, and then in 2015 at the 6th International Podgorica Book Fair for the collection of documents" Montenegro and the USA " in the documents of the National Archives in Washington 1905-1918 ". The fourth recognition of this kind was received at the Book Fair in Podgorica in 2019 for the book "Berlin Treaty of 1878".

In addition, the Institute received the award for the best-equipped edition of the "Jubilee Library" at the 8th International Podgorica Book Fair in 2013, as well as three awards for the best-equipped book: Montenegro and France in 2014, Nautika, Lectures by Marko Martinovic in Russian sailors in Perast 1697/1698 at the 10th Podgorica Fair 2015, as well as for the monograph Katuni Kučke Planine in 2018.

The number of awards shows the importance of the topics covered in the awarded editions, the quality of the Institute's publishing activities, but even more the fact that according to the total number of publications and the above indicators, the Institute is one of the most important, if not the most important, organizational units engaged in publishing. Especially when it is added that the Institute of History has been the publisher of the renowned historiographical journal "Historical Records" for more than 70 years.
