The NGO Eco-team organized the hackathon "Your future is in your hands" in Pljevlja, as part of the Panda Labs Junior for Just Transition project and gathered students from the Tanasija Pejatović High School and the Pljevlja Secondary Vocational School and students from the University of Crna Gora. Among the students from UMNE were also students from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, from the study programs Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection.

The task of the hackathon was to develop a business idea or establish an NGO, with the aim of reducing the negative impact that coal use in the northernmost municipality has on air quality and the overall quality of life of citizens.

During the 24 hours, seven teams, with the support of mentors, worked hard to develop their ideas, followed by a presentation in front of a three-member expert jury, composed of representatives of business, civil society and local government.

The "Eco Home" team was evaluated with the highest grade for the presented idea. The winning team included students from the Environmental Protection (MTF) study program Marija Dačević and Anel Perezić.

Other MTF students also achieved significant results with their teams "MOODETOX" and "Spread your lungs" and won second and third place in the hackathon, respectively.

The winning team was rewarded with participation in a regional conference in Sofia, to be organized in October. The regional conference is an opportunity for regional networking and networking of young people from Montenegro with their peers from Bulgaria, Serbia and Northern Macedonia, who will also attend the conference.

The project "Panda Labs Junior for Just Transition" is implemented by: WWF Bulgaria, JA Bulgaria, JA Macedonia, WWF Adria Serbia and Eco-team, with the support of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety BMU).
