Students of Final Year of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology for the First Time on Professional Practice in 13 Companies

The Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology (MTF) of the University of Montenegro for the first time, in the beginning of 2020 meets with implementation of external professional practice of students through their one-day engagement in industrial plants, every work week, from the upcoming semester.

Dean of the Faculty, Mira Vukčević, PhD states that constant requests made by students for introducing professional practice were motivation for initiative of cooperation with companies. 

„Faculty with 13 companies and public enterprises signed contracts on student practice that needs to start in the upcoming semester. All documentation is developed and available for students to monitor progress of students during the practice“, Dean Vukčević said.

During Info Day, students of final years and all interested parties were explained the way of performing, managing, and supervision in companies and way of evaluation of practice. Students, as Dean Vukcevic says, had the opportunity to choose company or enterprise of practice, and the way of application, approval and appointing for practice were explained.

„We have to say that contracts were signed with companies prescribing precisely all rights and obligations of all three parties signatories i.e. Faculty, company and the student. All parties were very happy to accept this call for cooperation and provided, in accordance with their capacities, stay of three to five students in their plants or laboratories during entire semester“, Dean Vukčević explained.

According to her words, this type of teaching may significantly improve readiness of graduated higher education students, for the labor market as a common attitude of teaching staff and students of FMT.

The Faculty will, with the aim to improve studying conditions, in the forthcoming period, intensify activities starting from mobility projects to research projects to infrastructural investments. ,

„The Faculty administers a few programs of bilateral cooperation, also makes several participations in COST actions, as well as potential engagement in new, a few approved EUREKA projects, project of so called great importance in bilateral cooperation with Italy as well as one great project within European Institute for innovation and Technology (EIT). Two more applications for EIT are being prepared, as well as one application for Horizon 2020“, Vukčević says.

Dean Vukčević says that also Faculty is proud of restoration of research infrastructure and fully completed devices of latest generation for Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry and Infrared Spectroscopy that will significantly increase research possibilities in implementation of new model of master and doctoral studies.  

„We expect donation of companies that traditionally support Faculties through a complete renovation of two great amphitheaters that use study programs of FMT“, Vukčević says.

End of last and beginning of this year were marked by reconstructions of roofs on laboratories and amphitheaters and it is expected to continue with arranging classroom and laboratory space, Vukcevic stated all activities in the field of improving conditions of studying.
