Dean Vukčević: On the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology Admission Exam for Master Studies Designed

The Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology of the University of Montenegro has planned an admission exam for enrollment in master studies, which this year are enrolled for the first time according to the model of reformed master studies lasting two years. This was announced by the Dean of this faculty, Mira Vukčević, PhD.

"The admission exam will be formed as a test with an appropriate ratio of given answers. The test questions will be grouped into three key scientific areas for each study program, and the test results will make up 40% of the total number of points won. The rest will depend on the success of students in undergraduate studies, " Vukčević said.

Passing rate for master studies, she adds, will be the same as before, i.e., they will be able to enroll students with completed undergraduate studies for that master's study program as well as students with completed undergraduate studies evaluated with a minimum of 180ECTS at the same or related technical faculties. "Students are already showing great interest, especially since we are organizing master studies for the first time in the applied study program Environmental Protection. Interest is shown not only by students who are now completing the third year of undergraduate studies at the home Faculty, but also by students from other related faculties and also by those who have completed postgraduate specialist studies according to the old curricula. The fact that enrolled students will be provided with free master's studies contributes to that interest, “Vukčević said.

"This year, the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology will announce vacancies for a two-year master's degree for all three study programs: Metallurgy and Materials, Chemical Technology and Environmental Protection, 20, 30 and 40 candidates, respectively. The number of requested candidates has been adjusted to the spatial and other conditions on the basis of which the license for master studies was issued, " DeanVukčević announced. She especially emphasizes that all master's theses at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology are made as complex experimental research.

"In that sense, in order to meet this enrollment, in the previous three-year period, MTF has seriously worked on modernizing and filling the research infrastructure in order to prepare the laboratories for the arrival of a larger number of students who will be engaged in research work." "Several pieces of large research equipment were purchased, especially in the field of instrumental techniques, as well as medium and small equipment, so that good conditions were created for research work," Vukčević said. A large number of new master's theses, she concludes, will certainly require increased engagement, not only of the administration in the organizational units, but also at the level of the University bodies that manage issue of master studies.
