Dean Mujović about Online Teaching on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering: We do our Best as much as Possible

Following recommendations given from the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro, teachers and associates of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in current circumstances of corona virus COVID 19, are conducting the teaching process through one of suggested methods of online teaching.

Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Sasa Mujovic, PhD states that there is domination of ZOOM application that showed as simple to use for both teaching staff and students so the reaction are pretty much positive.

A slight problem in using ZOOM presents its time limit for the period of 40 minutes and the need to get new allowances afterwards. Certain our professors solved the problem by purchasing license for undisrupted and unlimited usage of this software for the price of 14 EUR. I underline that students behave very reasonably accepting this way of work. I assume they have much better concentration from their places, Dean Mujovic says.

All information about the teaching students get through web page of the Faculty or site of the University of Montenegro (www.ucg.ac.me/etf ). Luckily, Dean says, professors of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering have a high level of computer literacy so there is no need for some special assistance.

"Even though caught off guard by the gravity of the situation we tend to maintain the continuity of the teaching process. I especially emphasize the word continuity since all efforts made now are directed to that purpose. It is not particular wisdom needed to see that temporary pause necessary of uncertain duration is extremely harmful for the teaching process and our students. The focus is lost, the material is not made up and falls into oblivion very fast. Therefore, we must act and we are acting to mitigate the detected problems”, Dean Mujovic thinks.

Yet, he warns, we must be careful, since this system is necessary and only way to keep our students so-so "fit".

The quality and level of the knowledge acquired this way is yet to be assessed. The electrical engineering is a particular field. Theoretical analysis is needed nut the only condition. In certain subjects the teaching process requires traditional approach and most of subjects have their obligatory laboratory exercises. So, the problem is not simple, and what we are doing is to do our best as much as possible, he says.

What is left open if this situation lasts, is the way of assessment that would be defined by the official attitude of organs of the University of Montenegro, analysis and implementation of assessment in a way acceptable for students.
