Professor Jovićević: Great Importance of the UoM Recognition, Especially as it Comes from Colleagues of the Faculty of Fine Arts

Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Milena Jovićević is the winner of the Recognition of the University of Montenegro (UoM) for the achieved results and contributions to the development of scientific research, artistic and professional work. She says that the UoM award is very important, especially because it comes from colleagues of the institution where he has been working for almost twenty years.

"It is important that you have support in the team and that your work and contribution is recognized," she added.

Among the activities last year she singles out the exhibition Women about women, which is part of the international art project Rise of women in culture in the Western Balkans, co-financed by the European Union.

"Five curators from five countries: Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Northern Macedonia selected five artists each. The selector for Montenegro is art historian Nela Gligorović. The topic initiated by curators and artists focuses on women's experiences and interpretations in contemporary world, ”she explains.

In accordance with the stated topic, the work of Professor Jovićević Man’s games over and over again, 2020/21. problematizes the patriarchal matrix according to which our society continues to operate, points to the problem of inequality, limitations, prejudices, imposed roles and stereotypes in society.

"During 2021, within the mentioned project, five exhibitions were realized: in the New Gallery of Visual Arts in Belgrade, the Modern Gallery in Podgorica, the Story Gallery in Samobor, Croatia, the National Gallery of Macedonia - Small Station in Skopje and Lokar Gallery, Ajdovščina in Slovenia. All exhibitions included an educational part, conferences, workshops, lectures. After the exhibition, a documentary series with artists and curators was realized, "Jovicevic said.

Furthermore, Professor Jovićević participated in the exhibition of the National Museum of Montenegro, entitled "What our struggle gave us" by curator Anastazija Miranović, which was organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the July 13 uprising and the 70th anniversary of the NOB Museum.
