Round table "Montenegrin katuns" at CANU

At the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, organized by the Committee for Agriculture and Forestry on February 7, 2019, starting at 10 AM a round table was held on the topic of "MONTENEGRIN KATUNS".

In the introductory lecture of academician Milojica Jaćimović, the Proceedings from the International Conference "SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF MOUNTAIN AREAS - Experiences, Challenges and Perspectives" held at Žabljak in September 2016, as well as some of the results of the project Valorization of Montenegrin Katuns through Sustainable Development of Agriculture and Tourism - KATUN, which lasted from April 2015 to September 2017, and in which the Historical Institute UoM was one of the project partners. The round table was continued with presentations:

After introductory lectures, a discussion on relevant issues was opened, the most important characteristics of the Montenegrin katuns, especially the historical dimension and traditional agriculture such as animal husbandry, were presented; comparative experiences from Slovenia in the use of mountain areas were also presented, and emphasized  some future steps that need to be taken in the sustainable use of mountain areas and katuns.
