Plaque of the University of Montenegro Awarded on the Occasion of 70 Years of Successful Scientific-Research Work and Contribution to the Development of Science of the Historical Instituted

Today, Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro celebrated jubilee- seven decades of the establishment of the Institute and the first edition of ‘Istorijski zapisi’ (Historical records), at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.

Rector University of Montenegro, Danilo Nikolic, PhD, awarded the Plaque to the Historical Institute on the occasion od 7 decades of successful scientific and research work and contribution to the development of science at the University of Montenegro.

He said that the foundation of the Institute was a great event not only for Montenegrin historical science, but also for Montenegrin society, which mirrors in around 200 particular editions of thematic collections, archive content and sources, books and projects.

When it comes to published codes, Rector Nikolic particularly emphasizes the edition Monumenta Montenegrina in 20 volumes, Code of documents from Montenegrin history (1685-172), prepared, as he states, by Jevto Milovic, PhD (Cetinje, 1956), then the edition Montenegrin codes: law sources and political acts significant for the history of Montenegrin statehood, code of document consisted in 5 books prepared by Branko Pavicevic, PhD and Radoslav Raspopovic, PhD.

‘Two prestigious awards:  Order of merit for people with silver rays and Order of merit from people with golden star confirm a successful multi-decade existence and social role of the Historical Institute’, the Rector states.

Today, Director of the Historical Institute, Radoslav Raspopovic, PhD said that the honor should be given to those who delivered decision on its establishment, from the point of 7 decades of the Institute existence,  considering it a good example of the impact om the development of social awareness.

He emphasized the journal ‘Istorijski zapisi’, that has had international editing board since 2008, and listed in two international databases CEEOL and EBSCO  in 2010, is a specific segment in the publishing activity of the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro.

At the Formal Academy, plaques were awarded to merit institutions: the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The National Library of Montenegro, the State Archives of Montenegro, the Archive Department of the State Archive of Montenegro - the Historical Archive of Kotor, the Embassy of Bulgaria, the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the Embassies of the United States of America, the Embassies of the Republic of Poland, the Fund Gorchakov and the Sapienza University in Rome.

Diplomas to postgraduate students of master studies: History/ History of culture and Historical anthropology were also awarded.

Director of the Directorate for Higher Education Mubera Kurpejovic from the Ministry of Education, Sandra Stoiljkovic addressed the participants on behalf of the Fund Gorcakov, as well as Fabio Grasi, PhD in front of the Sapienza University in Rome.
