The Summer School on the circular economy, which was organised according to the same program in all partner institutions as part of the CiRcular Economy Skills enhanCEment NeTwOrk - CRESCENTO project, was successfully implemented from August 31, 2023, until September 12, 2023 at the University of Montenegro. The students of the school are with mentors, Prof Biljana Damjanović Vratnica, Prof. Milica Muhadinović, Prof. Martin Ćalasan, Dr Jana Mišurović, and Jovan Popović, M.Sc. prepared project ideas in the field of circular economy. Collaborator on the CRESCENTO project, Anđela Lalatović, M.Sc., held a two-day workshop to prepare for the effective presentation of the project, defining the problem being solved, which presentation provides opportunities for a good representation of the idea, as well as how to convince investors that the proposed concept is the best.

The participants of the CRESCENTO Summer School presented exciting projects and ideas from the field of circular economy:

  • BIOWATT MONTENEGRO – an inspiring idea to transform organic waste into a powerful source of clean, renewable energy and start a sustainable revolution in the energy sector;
  • Eco-building materials - the way to a greener future;
  • BioMonte – a pioneering project of turning agricultural waste into a circular economy to safely return organic waste to nature in the form of compost;
  • A smart city is a sustainable city - circular parking corner;
  • Revive – a simple but inspiring project vision to create high-quality painting paper that allows artists to express their creativity in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way;
  • Connect, compost, care – the "magic" of composting.

Members of the Commission for the evaluation of project ideas: Miloš Grbović, Vanja Zorić Šundić, Dušan Boričić, Marija Raspopović and Zorana Sekulić, M.Sc.  had the difficult task of choosing the best. Interesting project ideas and interesting presentations by school participants resulted in a difference of only one point between first and fifth place. The Revive project idea aimed at creating high-quality paper, which is currently not available on the Montenegrin market, was presented by Ksenija Borozan, Dejana Dizdar, Filip Ćupić and Nataša Midžor as a combination of artistic passion and the benefits of environmental protection.

The CRESCENTO project envisages the establishment of the Adriatic-Ionian network for the circular economy, aimed mainly at academic and research institutions, as well as entrepreneurship support organisations to define and implement activities in the domain of the circular economy. The CRESCENTO project team would like to thank the students of the school, committee members, lecturers, moderators and mentors, and we look forward to future activities in the field of circular economy.
