Professor Vanja Asanović Awarded the Annual Prize of the University of Montenegro

Professor Dr. Vanja Asanović, recipient of the annual Award of the University of Montenegro, was recently honored for her exceptional contribution to the development of scientific research and international reputation of the University of Montenegro. This prestigious award, proposed by the Council of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology in Podgorica, was presented to Professor Asanović at the solemn session of the University of Montenegro Senate by the rector, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović.

Her outstanding work encompasses a wide range of activities, including numerous publications, participation in scientific conferences, project leadership, and many other contributions. As a full professor at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, Professor Asanović is engaged in teaching in the fields of Physical Metallurgy and Environmental Management. She has also contributed to education at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro, where she taught Metrology in postgraduate masters studies.

Professor Asanović is an active member of project teams dealing with various research and innovation areas. Within the Horizon Europe program, she participates in the "Montenegrin Center for Underwater Sensor Networks - MONUSEN" project, focused on underwater sensor networks and enhancing the research capacities of the University of Montenegro. She also led the "Enhancing Skills in Circular Economy - CRESCENTO" project, resulting in the establishment of a transnational network for circular economy and the preparation of documentation for a joint masters program in this field.

In the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program, she leads the "Development of NO-DEPENDENCE Hydrogen Compressors" project aimed at developing an innovative hydrogen compression system for autonomous refueling stations. Additionally, she has participated in COST actions dealing with mechanochemical synthesis of materials, green technologies, and carbon-based nanocomposite materials. With her contributions to these projects, Professor Asanović actively contributes to research and innovation progress in these areas.

Her work is not limited to the academic community. As a member of the Ministry of Economy working team, Professor Asanović played a key role in establishing the Center for Metrology, greatly contributing to the development of scientific, legal, and industrial metrology in Montenegro. As the director of the Institute of Metrology, she organized activities necessary for building the national metrological institution and positioning it in international and regional organizations. Her work also included important activities in drafting legal acts in the field of metrology, as well as engagement in institutions such as the Institute for Standardization of Montenegro and the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

Professor Asanović is also known for her significant scientific research work. Her research is focused on the synthesis, thermo-mechanical treatment, phase transformations, and structural testing of new materials. As an author or co-author, she has published numerous papers in both international and national scientific journals, as well as presented at scientific conferences.

Her tireless work, expertise, and dedication serve as a source of inspiration for all working in the fields of scientific research, metrology, and environmental protection.
