On Tuesday, November 7, the guest of the Historical Institute of Montenegro, as part of the CEEPUS program, was Dr. Mateusz Sokulski from the Institute of History, University of Silesia in Katowice. He gave a lecture entitled "Solidarity in Poland, 1970-1980." years. Colleague Sokulski presented interesting data on the general political and social development of Poland after the Second World War, and he paid special attention to the emergence of the "Solidarity" movement in the early 1980s. The Polish historian pointed out various nuances of the situation at the time, explained how the "Solidarity" union became a mass social movement, whose action in the long term led to the fall of communism in Poland and further on in Europe.

In addition to the events in Poland, Dr. Sokulski also referred to the Yugoslav reactions to the emergence of the "Solidarity" movement, as well as to the relations between the SFRY and the Eastern Bloc at the time. In this context, the data on actions of support for the Poles among intellectuals in Yugoslavia were particularly interesting.
