As part of the celebration of fifty years of the University of Montenegro under the slogan FuturUM, numerous events are planned. The first in a series of events was the promotion of the book "Hommage to Novo Vuković" and the 20th issue of the journal "Riječ", dedicated to academician Novo Vuković, organized at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić.

In the city under the Trebjesa Hill, Novo Vuković, as a regular professor at the Department of Serbo-Croatian Language and South Slavic Literature, fluidly interpreted the poetics of literature for children and youth to numerous generations of students.

Throughout his rich scientific career, Vuković published 10 books and authored numerous studies in literature. He was also the editor of the first journal for language and literature science in Montenegro, said Professor Dr. Rajka Glušica.

"Novo is a rarity even in much larger universities than ours. Therefore, we must constantly hold him up as an example. Generally, three fields are mostly mentioned in which he was most engaged - literary history with Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša as the center of his research, children’s literature with the fantastic two books "Beyond the Bounds of Possible" and the textbook "Introduction to Childrens Literature". So, he laid the foundations for these literatures in the Serbo-Croatian linguistic area. There is also stylistics with the book "Paths from Stylistic Idea," which is again one of the first books in the Serbo-Croatian area on stylistics," said Prof. Dr. Glušica.

At the end of 2022, at the initiative of academician Radomir Ivanović, a scientific conference was organized in Nikšić to mark twenty years since the death of academician Novo Vuković. The result of that symposium is the book "Hommage to Novo Vuković," published by the National Library "Njegoš" as part of the Signum edition, said the director of that public institution, Bojana Obradović.

"This publication contains valuable information about Novo Vuković, about him as a scientist and professor, but also about him as a person whose trait, for which friends and colleagues remember him, and as Prof. Dr. Rajka Glušica states in the afterword, is nobility. She says nobility radiated by him implies highly moral qualities - humanity, philanthropy, kindness, dignity, humor, and magnanimity," Obradović stated.

Novo Vuković was not only an intellectual but also a human greatness, emphasized academician Siniša Jelušić.

"His personality was characterized by moral, spiritual, humane sense, in a fundamental sense, perceived beauty. He emanated with that spiritual beauty, the beauty of the soul as it is usually said, but he, of course, did not say that about himself. He was extremely modest in an interesting way. One could never get the impression of these spiritual, theoretical dimensions he possessed, as if he entirely put that aside and as if it had no significance," said Jelušić.

In the afterword of the book, Prof. Dr. Rajka Glušica emphasized that Novo Vuković remained an embodiment of human virtue. We will remember him as an indefatigable striver who proved that even in a small environment, reaching scientific heights is possible.
