For the study year 2020/21, enrolment was approved for 180 freshmen at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, University of Montenegro, and only interest in the study program Tourism and Hotel Management, is traditionally stable and with a tendency of slight growth, so it will not be surprising if the number of interested candidates is higher than enrolled, Ilija Moric, PhD, said.

We talked with him about the promotional activities of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, student enrolment, the most sought-after study programs and expectations when enrolling new generations.

"Free tuition, very good educational capacities of the Faculty, attractiveness of the city of Kotor and large tourist investments throughout Montenegro, are the main drivers of growing interest of young people in tourism. In addition, it is a modern, attractive and dynamic vocation, with importance that can only grow in the future "Moric said.

The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, he explains, offers a unified study program in tourism and hospitality, and students in the third year opt for the tourism or hotel industry.

"Due to larger number, students are divided into two groups in lectures and three groups in exercises, followed by individual consultations according to the needs and requirements of students. This ensures higher quality of knowledge transfer, more successful communication and teaching process, especially in understanding and monitoring contemporary trends in tourism and hotel theory and practice,” he says.

In addition to regular teaching methods, he says, the Faculty works intensively on organizing guest lectures and professional visits, participation in scientific conferences and round tables, events of the student organization and UMNE, and more.

"Thanks to the location of the Faculty in the heart of the Old Town of Kotor, students are able to live and explore tourism throughout the year. This is mainly due to year-round cruising tourism, UNESCO status of Kotor and educational capacity of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. On the other side, by further digitalisation of teaching it is worked on the introducing new teaching tools, making it easier for professors and students to understand and follow new tourism competences and skills,” Moric says.

He announces that online presentations are also planned, especially through the website, Zoom application and other platforms for direct contact with high school graduates."All the information needed for freshmen is available on the official website www.ucg.ac.me/fth  and by stabilizing the current situation, graduates will be able to visit Kotor and through direct contact get to know the Faculty and the city where they will study," he added. He points out that the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management and the city of Kotor give very good opportunities for practical training, seasonal employment and successful study. "Issues of student standards are particularly well resolved, such as accommodation and meals for students in dormitories, scholarships and student loans, etc. On the other hand, opportunities for fulfilling social life, civic activism, seasonal employment, sports, recreation or hobbies in Kotor and they are among the best in Montenegro, "Moric said. For many years, he adds, all the offered places at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management have been filled through three enrolment deadlines, and the interest traditionally exceeds the number of 180 available places. "Recommendation for all high school graduates is to submit an application already in the first enrolment period and to" reserve their place "in the tourism of Montenegro on time," he concludes.
