Assistant Professor Petar Šturanović Acknowledged by the University of Montenegro

At proposal of the Council of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro, Assistant Professor Petar Šturanović, Ph.D., was awarded for his particular contribution to development of scientific research and international positioning of the University of Montenegro for the year 2022. The award was presented to him by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD, at the ceremony session of the UMNE Senate, at the end of last year.

Scientifically, Šturanović proved himself in various fields of legal theoretical and positive legal disciplines, showing creativity and interdisciplinary that characterizes his scientific research work. In this regard, his scientific research activity through publication of scientific papers in journals indexed in international databases contributed to greater international recognition, which is reflected in citations and influence, and in ranking of the Faculty of Law and the University of Montenegro.

In the last four years, he published three papers on the SSCl/AHCI list (Web of Science/Social Sciences Citation Index & Arts and Humanities Citation Index), this year he published an article in the American journal of prestigious publisher SAGE Publishing, and a work on the SCOPUS list. Among his more significant papers, the monograph "Legislative competence of the assembly in the modern parliamentary system" is worthwile, as well as articles in the international databases Web of Science/Social Sciences Citation Index & Arts and Humanities Citation Index and SCOPUS. Continuous scientific research work made Šturanović the first assistant professor at the Faculty of Law UMNE who met prescribed conditions (in terms of published works on the SSCI & AHCI list) to be a mentor to candidates for doctoral studies. 

In 2022, he was a member of international scientific board of the Conference Peace and Law — European Peace Agreements in the Broader Social Context, organized by the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, the Faculty of Law of the University in Potsdam (Germany) and the Faculty of Law in Szeged (Hungary) that was held in Novi Sad.

He is author of articles in the Lexicon of Diplomacy of Montenegro, published in 2022, published by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, and he is also one of the authors of articles in the Lexicon of Montenegrin Dynasties MASA. He has participated in several international and national scientific projects sponsored by the University of Montenegro, as well as the wider scientific community. He is a participant in national and international scientific gatherings and conferences. Dr. Šturanović was promoted into academic position of assistant professor for legal theory at the Faculty of Law of the UMNE in 2019, and teaches the courses General Theory of Law, European Constitutionalism, Parliamentary and Parliamentary Law.  His areas of scientific research are constitutional system, parliamentary, political system, and political philosophy. He is the head of four masters study programs at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro, and as the author of the guidelines for preparing the topic application and writing the masters thesis and through intensive and continuous individual work with students, he made a significant contribution to the quality of masters theses and the adaptation of our students to the new regime studies, but also a kind of introduction of students to the research process. He is a member of the Committee for Normative-Legal Affairs of the University of Montenegro and the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro.
