The Alumni Academy of the Faculty of Law at the University of Montenegro organized a roundtable discussion with the title "Unlocking the power of ADR: How to design a robust dispute resolution clause?" in collaboration with the renowned international arbitration institution, VIAC - Vienna International Arbitral Centre, headquartered in Vienna.

The roundtable discussion took place on October 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM in Hall III of the Faculty of Law at the University of Montenegro. The participants in the roundtable included the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Ambassador of VIAC for Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Aneta Spaić, Attorney Đorđe Novčić (JPM & Partners), Attorney Lana Vukmirović Mišić (LVM Law office - JPM Partners), Fahira Brodlija (GIZ), Vesko Božović (Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro), Maja Golović Vojinović (Arbitration Court of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro), and the General Secretary of VIAC, Niamh Leinwather.

The event was attended by numerous representatives from the business community, lawyers, employees of banks, judges from the Commercial and Supreme Courts, as well as many undergraduate and masters degree students from the Faculty of Law.

The roundtable provided participants with insights into the challenges of drafting a reliable dispute resolution clause and ways to mitigate concerns about concluding a so-called "pathological clause." Discussions also touched upon trends in investment dispute resolution methods, with a special focus on the Western Balkans region. The roundtable offered a closer look at the operations of VIAC as one of the leading arbitration institutions on the international stage.
