Lecture of prof. Urlike Tillman from the University in Oxford

Hereby we invite teachers and students of the FMS to attend the lecture of prof. Urlike Tillman to be held on October 29th 2019 at 12:00 in the hall of Montenegrin Academy of Science and Arts, Ul. Rista Stijovića 5.

Prof. Ulrike Tillman is mathematician working in fields of algebra topology, K-theory and noncommutative geometrics. She graduated PhD studies at the University of Stanford (USA) in 1990 and defended habilitation at the University in Bon in 1996. She was engaged in the University in Cambridge (1990–1992), while from 1992 she has been engaged in the University in Oxford, where from 2010 carries professor title. She was vice-president of the Merton College of the University in Oxford (2012-2014) while during 2018 she was acting Vice-President of the Royal Society. Professor Tillman has won several worthy and scientifically important grants out of which EPRSC (by Scientific Council of Engineering-Physics Science of the Great Britain). She was a head lecturer in numerous renowned mathematical assemblies as well as invited lecturer in International Congress of Mathematicians 2002 in Beijing.    

Prof. Tillman won Whitehead award by London Association of Mathematicians (2004) and Bessel-Humboldt scientific award (2008). She has been elected for member of the Royal Society in 2008 as well as for member of German National Academy of Science Leopoldina 2017. She is a member of Editing Board of a few top mathematical journals such as: Topology, Journal for Topology (founder and editor in chief), algebra and geometrical topology. So far, Prof. Tillman has mentored about 15 PhD dissertations, and her students are already affirmed scientists in reputational universities in Europe.
