The main activity of employees in this Laboratory is testing/research bio-geo-chemical processes and cycles of different parameters in the water column, sediment and biota of the Montenegrin coast with a view to enhance protection of the marine ecosystem.

• Analysis of physical and chemical parameters in sea water and sediment, analysis of nutrients in sea water;
• Testing for the presence and content of heavy metals in sediment and marine organisms, and their impact on the ecosystem
• Determination of metal pollution index as well as bioaccumulation and geo-accumulation factor;
• Study of physical, mineralogical and sedimentological characteristics of sediment, as well as of marine sediment ecology
• Biomonitoring-examination of the degree of pollution of the sea as well as the response of organisms to pollution ie. Monitoring the accumulation of pollutants and their harmful substances in the tissues and organs;
