Mathematics unites - lecture by the vice president of EMS, Betul Tanbay, PhD

Organized by the Committee for Mathematics and Physics of MASA, on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 12 oclock, in room 224 of the building of the Technical Faculties of the University of Montenegro, a scientific tribune of the mathematician Betül Tanbay, PhD entitled "Mathematics unites". The lecture will be in English.

 

Betül Tanbay is Professor of Functional Analysis at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul. She was the founder and first director of the Istanbul Center for Mathematical Sciences and the first woman president of the Turkish Mathematical Society. She is currently Vice President of the European Mathematical Society and a member of the Board of Directors of IDM (International Day of Mathematics), International Mathematical Union. Professor Tanbay graduated from ULP in Strasbourg in 1982 and received her PhD from UC Berkeley in 1989. The title of the lecture is “Mathematics unites” is the topic of International Mathematics Day (IDM) 2022. The lecture itself will be dedicated to other IDM topics, after which to talk about how the Cadison-Singer problem united many areas of mathematics.
