The importance of the "Summer Job 2024" fair as a crucial step in strengthening the domestic workforce and contributing to the sustainable development of the Montenegrin economy was emphasized during the opening ceremony at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality in Kotor. Organized for the 16th time by the Student Parliament of the University of Montenegro in collaboration with the Career Development and Lifelong Learning Office, the fair provides young people with the opportunity to find jobs during the season that match their interests and qualifications.

Professor Dr. Đurđica Perović, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, recalled that the initiative for the seasonal employment fair originated from the faculty 16 years ago and has since become a manifestation organized by students from all faculties.

"The need for connection with the industry and employers has been recognized in all professions taught at our university. Today, especially when facing a labor force shortage, it is crucial that we network and jointly identify the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for students to better meet the demands of the industry," stated Perović.

She pointed out that through the practical training program organized in the first, second, and third years of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality in Kotor, students undergo practical training. "At this moment, we have 350 students participating and undergoing practical training in over 100 companies in Montenegros tourism industry," she added.

Ivan Mikijelj, Manager of the Municipality of Kotor, reminded attendees that the local government financially supported the fair. "I believe the fair is a great opportunity for employers looking for quality workforce. I hope that the local workforce will be maximally involved in seasonal jobs offered at the fair. The most important thing is to connect the youth with employers so they can find employment opportunities in the labor market during the season," noted Mikijelj.

He also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between SPUCG, the University of Montenegro, and the Municipality of Kotor to jointly contribute to youth employment and increase the participation of the local workforce in seasonal jobs in the country.

Andrej Vukčević, President of SPUCG, stated that young people in Kotor have the opportunity to explore job offers and engage with representatives of 62 employers offering numerous job positions for seasonal employment, primarily in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and catering.

"This projects significance is evident from the fact that yesterday in Podgorica, we had representatives from 93 employers and over three thousand young people - high school graduates and students from all over Montenegro," said Vukčević.

He highlighted the impact of the Summer Job project, stating that over 10,000 young people have gained their first work experience through it, emphasizing its importance for the entire country. "This year, we have made progress, as seen in the number of employers and young people interested in participating in this project and engaging in seasonal jobs in Montenegro," Vukčević added.

The fair will be open until 4 p.m. at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality in Kotor.
