After passing this exam the student will be able to: 1.Understand the problems related to the so-called " a fourth state of matter" or plasma; 2.Explain the fundamental physical processes and mechanisms that govern the creation and loss of charged particles in a gas; 3.Explain and compare the characteristics of different laboratory and cosmic plasma; 4.Analyze and interpret electrical and optical measurements with the aim of diagnosing the plasma parameters; 5.Understand the problem of energy and place of thermonuclear fusion as a potential energy source.
