Biography - Bečanović Tatjana

Tatjana Đurišić-Bečanović has been employed at the University of Montenegro, holding the title of an Associate Professor on the following subjects: Theory of Literature, Interpretation of the Literary Work and Montenegrin Literature. She defended her master's thesis, entitled Poetry and Poetics of Risto Ratković at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade in September, 1999, and graduated from the doctoral studies, defending the doctoral dissertation entitled Poetics of Lalic's Trilogy (Evil Spring, The Wailing Mountain and The Chase) on 23th of  November, 2004, at the same faculty.

Becanovic worked at the Petar II Petrović Njegoš Institute (Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts) as Deputy Director. She is the author of four monographs: Sleep or Die (Poetry and poetics of Risto Ratkovic), Podgorica, CID, 2003, Poetics of Lalic's trilogy, Podgorica, CANU, 2006, Narratological and Poetic Reviews, Podgorica, CID, 2009, Semiotic Interpretations, Bijelo Polje, Pegaz, 2015, as well as about 70 papers and articles, published mainly in international journals or in international conference proceedings. Becanovic is, currently, the President of the Organizing Committee of Njegoševi dani, an international Slavic gathering that has been held regularly in Montenegro since 2008 and is dedicated to the study and promotion of Njegoš's creativity, Montenegrin and other South Slavic literatures and cultures.

Tatjana Đurišić-Bečanović used to be a member of the Council for the Standardization of the Montenegrin Language,  as well as the President of the Council for the Development of the Vocabulary of the Montenegrin Folk and Literary Language, guest lecturer at the Slavic Department in Oslo (2007), at the Adam Mickijevič University in Poznan on doctoral studies (2015), and at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (2017). Becanovic, also, worked as a Vice Dean for Science and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Philosophy from 2005-2008, as well as a Vice Dean for Teaching and Postgraduate Master's and Doctoral Studies drurin the period from 2009-2012.
