Reaction by the University of Montenegro

Salaries at the University of Montenegro are calculated based on current legal acts, the Collective Agreement of the University of Montenegro (UCG), and valid regulations.

In publicly disclosed data regarding the earnings of teaching staff, amounts include, in addition to the basic salary, allowances for activities from the previous period, which often exceed 12 months, such as memberships in masters thesis defense committees, mentorships in the preparation of masters theses, mentorships in the preparation of doctoral dissertations, and activities within the implementation of numerous projects, from national and EU funds.

The engagement and activities of individuals that resulted in higher amounts in publicly displayed data do not reflect the picture of the basic salary, which is much lower than shown. These are variable categories that may or may not be present. The basic monthly net salary for full professors at the University of Montenegro is about 1500 euros, for associate professors about 1400, and for assistant professors about 1250 euros. Increases are applied to these net salaries according to years of service, as well as engagements beyond the norm defined by the Collective Agreement.

Those who stand out in the total amount are most often those who have made a special contribution to the development and international positioning of the University of Montenegro through the publication of scientific research results in reference categories of journals and publishers, or based on activities in the function of teaching at UCG.
