Scholarships for Studying in Hungary

The Government of Hungary, in cooperation with the UN Program for Food and Agriculture (FAO), awards the limited number of scholarships for master studies, in academic 2019/202, for the following fields:

  1. Master studies within herb protection field (the Pannonia University),
  2. Master studies within the field of rural development and agribusiness (the University “Szent István”),
  3. Master studies within the field of agricultural biotechnology (the University “Szent István”).

Conditions:

These master courses will be organised if the number of students enrolled suffice.

The scholarship includes:

  • Application and scholarship costs during studies, with elementary books and notebooks,
  • Accommodation in student’s dormitory
  • Life costs,
  • Health insurance.

 

All abovementioned costs are financed by the Government of Hungary, in accordance with the Agreement signed between FAO and Hungary in 2007.

Scholarship covers only costs of students but not their family members.

The Program is financed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary, and it is intended for candidates from the following countries:

Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Egypt, Chad, Ethiopia, Zambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Ex Yugoslavian Countries Republic of Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Moldavia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen.

 

Application and Selection Process:

Selection process will be applied to the scholarships starting in September 2019, and it will be conducted in two phases:

First phase: FAO performs a primary insight into candidateship and submits applications to the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary that forwards them to the university accordingly, at a candidate’s preference. Candidates must submit a complete documentation. Incomplete files shall not be considered as well as files without a name.

Second phase: Selected candidates may be required to take up an oral or written exam of English Language as part of admission process. Universities participating in this program conduct further selection noticing the successful candidates. Selection of students includes only the stated universities without any participation of FAO. Selected candidates will be informed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary.

Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Citizenship and permanent residence in one of the countries from the list,
  • Excellent school results,
  • Level of English Language (for programs implemented in English),
  • Motivation,
  • Good health,
  • Age (priority will have candidates younger than 30)

Documentation needed:

Interested candidates need to, via electronic mail, send file consisted of the following documentation:

  • Correctly filled application form that can be downloaded athttp://www.fao.org/capacitydevelopment/scholarships/en/ ,
  • The latest CV,
  • Copy of high school diploma and transcript of grades,
  • Copy of faculty diploma on graduated studies and transcript of grades,
  • Copy of certificate on English language knowledge,
  • Copy of the passport page with the issuing and validation date and its number,
  • Recommendation letter,
  • Motivation letter,
  • Doctoral health certificate issued by the medicine doctor,
  • Certificate on not being under investigation issued by the MIA.

All documents must be in ENGLISH, and candidate is obliged to submit court stamped translations of documents (court interpreter for English). Documents submitted in any other language will not be accepted.

A complete file, composed of the mentioned documentation, should be sent strictly by e-mail to FAO, in period until February 28th 2019 at REU-Scholarship@fao.org.

Since the number of scholarships is limited, interested candidates are recommended to submit their applications as soon as possible.

Candidates who were not selected in previous years may reapply for this program, for 2019/2020. These candidates should resend a complete documentation only electronically. 

Hard copies of the documentation, delivered by post or dispatcher or by any other way shall not be considered.

Scholarship duration cannot be prolonged or postponed.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary shall sign the contract on studying with a selected student, as a donor of this program in time of first semester enrolment.
