Webinar on the discovery of plagiarism on March 17

The Program Office of the Council of Europe will organize a webinar on the topic of plagiarism detection on March 17, 2021 at 1 p.m. The webinar will be led by Michelle Bergadaà, a representative of the International Institute for Research and Action against Academic Fraud and Plagiarism - University of Geneva.

She will talk in more detail about the limitations of using plagiarism software, the risks of misinterpretation (false positives and false negatives), the increased sophistication of these tools, and special cases such as translation or paraphrase.

Professor Bergada has published more than 150 articles in her field (communication and management). She was the director of the postgraduate program in e-communication when she noticed the exponential growth of fraud and plagiarism. He is the creator of the joint website responsable.unige.ch, which has more than 25,000 followers from 117 academic instances in 17 countries. Her latest book Le plagiat academikue - Comprendre pour agir (Paris: L'Harmattan, 2015) encourages the commitment of the academic community in the search for methods and processes that correspond to the beginning of the 21st century. The professor regularly holds conferences at the international level and is strongly involved in the creation of programs dealing with the topics of scientific fraud and plagiarism.

Since the Webinar will be held in French, we note that in order to access it, it is necessary to have the Zoom application installed, in order to provide translation (see the instructions in the document below).
