Lecture by Elvira Fortunato, PhD, famous Portuguese Scientist and Innovator on September 3rd




Elvira Fortunato, PhD, famous European scientist and innovator will hold the lecture in Podgorica, at EU Info Center, on September 3rd, at 11:30h. The focus of the lecture will be the possibility of successful use of EU funds for science and innovations, intended for researchers and innovators of all generations, as well as policy creators. We invite all interested to attend and get advice of this experienced scientist, winner of numerous EU awards, grants and certificates.

 

Elvira Fortunato Is the Full professor of the department for Material science at the Faculty of Science and Technology of New University in Lisbon (NOVA), the Chairman of the Institute for nanomaterials, nanofabrication and nanomodeling and CENIMAT.

She was the member of Portuguese National Council for Science and Technology (2012-2015) and the member of European Commission Advisory Board DG CONNECT (2014-2015). She is the member of High Level Group of the Mechanism for scientific consultation of European Commission since November 2016.

Fortunato is a pioneer of European research in the field of transparent electrical engineering, and thin-layer transistors based on oxide semi-conductors, proving that oxide materials may be used as real semi-conductors. She earned a prestigious grant of European Research Council (ERC AdG) from the FP7 program, for ‘’Invisible’’ project, considered as a successful story. She proved the possibility of paper transistor with her colleagues same year, starting a new field in the paper electronics.

 

Fortunato has published more than 500 scientific works and during last ten years she earned more than 18 international awards and praises for her work (for example Blaise Pascal Medal- European Academy of Sciences (2016); IDTechEx USA 2009 (paper transistor); European Woman Innovation Prize, Finland 2011, Czochralski award E-MRS, Czech Republic, 2017). She is the holder of the Order of Prince Henry the Seafarer, assigned by the President of Republic of Portugal 2010, for her scientific achievement all around the world.

Fortunato, PhD, is in Montenegro on the occasion of the Yucomat International Conference 2019 /WRTCS 2019, which will be held in Herceg Novi from September 2nd to 6th, 2019.
