Deadline for Application for Student Summer School CERN 2019 Prolonged until January 21st




The Ministry of Science prolongs deadline for applying to the competition ‘Student Summer School CERN 2019’ until January 21st 2019.  

 

Based on the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on scientific and technical cooperation within the field of physics of high energies, signed on October 1st 2007, the Ministry of Science announces

THE COMPETITION

For attractive student scholarships in leading world laboratory – CERN, ‘Student Summer School CERN 2019’

 

 

  1. Subject of the Competition

Student summer school CERN is held every day in duration from 8 to 13 weeks in July and August and it includes theoretical training, workshops, seminars, exhibitions as well as experimental work.


Subject of this Competition is selection of four candidates by the Ministry of Science, and the final selection will be conducted by CERN and in cooperation with the Ministry of Science candidates will be financed with the right to participate in program ‘Student Summer School CERN 2019’.

 
Best Montenegrin students will have the opportunity to be included in everyday operation of CERN’s great research teams that implement interdisciplinary research, attend lectures, and visit CERN’s laboratories and plants, as well as equipment of this institution, to take part in workshops with scientists who are leaders in their research fields.

 

The right to participate have students from the following fields:

• Physics and
• Engineering sciences, especially from ICT field. 

2. Application requirements


A candidate must meet the folowing conditions:

 

  1. a) Montenegrin citizen;
    b) Bachelor or master diploma;
    c) Without any previous participation in this or similar schools and programs organized by CERN,
    e. he/she has not been previously engaged in CERN in the period longer than three months;
    d) Excellent knowledge of English (minimum level B2), while French language is desired.

    If a candidate expects to obtain bachelor diploma until the program ‘Student Summer School CERN 2019’ begins, he/she has the right to participate in the competition.

 

  1. Financial Frame

    The Ministry of Science and CERN shall cover costs of participation of selected candidates including:
    a) Travel costs
    b) Residence costs and accommodation for the duration of Student Summer School (90 Swiss francs per day, i.e. 2700 CHF per month)
    c) Health insurance covered (contribution extracted from the fee).

    4. Procedure of Applying and Selection of Candidates


Interested candidates are obliged to submit:


  • Certificate on Montenegrin Citizenship (or stamped copy of biometric ID card);
    • Confirmation statement on studying with transcript of grades;
    • CV – Europass forma in English or French;
    • Two recommendation letters in English;
    •Motivation letter in English;
    •Transcript of grades in English; and
    •Confirmation on English language knowledge (and French if possible).

    A candidate should make an effort to have CV and application as detailed as possible, which will make the engagement easier in project assignments in later phase.


The abovementioned documentation is submitted in printed form to the Ministry of Science, until January 21st 2019 the latest, 14:00h, to the address: the Ministry of Science, Rimski trg 46, 81000 Podgorica (with remark: for program ‘Student Summer School’ CERN 2019“). We emphasize that it is necessary for candidates who send documentation via post also to send it scanned on e-mail: martina.lukic@mna.gov.me

 

The Ministry of Science shall establish the Commission for Selection of Candidates that will consider submitted applications and determine proposal for the Ministry.  

 

The Ministry of Science shall select four candidates. Afterwards, selected candidates are obliged to register themselves electronically at the official page of CERN, until January 31st 2019, and in accordance with instructions given to send required information. Final selection of candidates will be performed by CERN, until the end of April 2019.
