Renowned expert Avi Mendelson on April 25th: On the ChatGPT model and the future of large language models

On April 25th at 11:00 AM, at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro in Podgorica, renowned world expert in computer science and engineering, Prof. Dr. Avi Mendelson from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, will deliver a lecture titled "Enabling Technologies for (Vast) Large Language Models – Will They Continue to Evolve?" This lecture will cover topics such as ChatGPT, Bert, and Gemini.

Professor Mendelson will explain what large language models are and the technologies that support them, discuss the vulnerabilities of these models and the accuracy of the information they provide. He will also focus on new challenges and possible future research directions in this field.

Professor Mendelson is a member of the leading global organization dedicated to promoting technological advancement and excellence for the benefit of humanity - the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He holds a professorship in the Department of Computer Science at the Technion in Israel and has extensive experience in both the industry and academic sectors in various areas, including Computer Architecture, Hardware Security, Hardware Accelerators, and Machine Learning Architectures, with a focus on architectures that support the training of vast learning models.

He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Department of Computer Science at the Technion, and his PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He spent 11 years as a senior researcher and principal engineer at Intel. In recent years, his focus has been on innovation, and in this direction, he manages academic activities within Microsoft R&D Israel, one of Microsoft’s strategic research and development centers.

Following his lecture, esteemed Prof. Dr. Veljko Milutinović will also speak on the topic of "DataFlow Supercomputing for Deep Analytics of Big Data."

Professor Milutinović is a visiting professor at the University of Montenegro and an associate professor at the Technical University of Graz, Austria, and Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. He is a member of the Serbian Academy of Engineering, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Academy of Europe in London, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Washington, USA.
