Biography - Rašković Milorad

Milorad Rašković was born on July 07, 1954 in Kotor. He completed elementary school in Radanovići and Maritime High School in Kotor. He graduated from the Maritime Academy in Kotor (Nautics Department) in 1978, as first from his class and obtained a title of engineer of maritime nautics.

Soon after he enrolled at the Faculty of Maritime and Transport in Rijeka, Croatia and graduated in 1980, as first from his class and obtained a title of engineer of maritime transport. In 1985 he commenced postgraduate studies program named „Integral and multimodal transport“ organized jointly by the Faculty of Maritime and Transport in Rijeka, Technical Faculty in Rijeka and Faculty of Economics in Rijeka, where he defended his Master thesis in 1986.

In 1995 he obtained a title of PhD at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor by defending a doctoral thesis named „Contribution to the safety of shipping through analysis of physical characteristics of ARPA system radar beam“.

After he graduated from Maritime High School he started to work and navigate on the vessels of shipping company „Jugooceanija“, firstly as a cadet, then as a 3rd officer, 2nd officer and 1st officer, finally achieving the rank of Captain. Afterwards, in 1982 he started working as a teaching assistant at the  Maritime Academy in Kotor. He was than promoted to lecturer and than in 1985 to professor for subjects „Terestrical, Practical and Electronic Navigation“.

He gaind the academic title of Docent in 1997, title of Associate Professor in 2002 and the title of Full Professor in 2007. From the December of 2004 until the December of 2010 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor.

Principal scope of his academic work is maritime navigation. He is the author of textbook „Terestrical and Electronic Navigation“.

He is married and has two children.
