Biography - Jovanović Olivera

Olivera Jovanović was born September 3rd 1957 in Kruševac, Serbia. She graduated from ‘Slobodan Škerovic’ high school, major in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, in 1976 in Podgorica. She received 'Luca' awards of commendation for primary and higher education, as well as many awards in regional and republic competitions in mathematics.

After only three years and nine months, she graduated at Faculty of Technical sciences (Mechanical Department), in June 1980 with an average mark 9.76. For results obtained during her studies, Olivera received many awards, such as : Faculty of Mechanical Engineering award in 1977, Student award of Liberation of Podgorica in 1978, University of Montenegro award in 1979.

She enrolled Masters at Faculty of Civil Engineering, Structural mechanics department, in Belgrade ,1980. She defended her master’s thesis 'Elastoplastic analysis of skeletal frames’ under mentorship by Prof V. Brcic, in May 1984 at Faculty of Civil Engineering, in Belgrade.

She became Doctor of Science in Technical Engineering after defending her thesis 'Mathematical modeling of steel frame system with basic insulation' under mentorship by Prof D.Jurukovski at the Institute of Earthquake and Engineering Seismology, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University.  

She has been working at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro since October 1980.
She was elected as a trainee assistant in 1980 and assistant in 1984. She was elected Assistant Professor in 1989, Associate Professor in 1994, and full time professor in 1999 for Mechanics I and II courses at the Department of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Podgorica.

She has realized several study visits within the various programs of international university cooperation as a postgraduate and postdoctoral student. From January to June 1988, she continued her education at Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, USA. She attended the same university in 1990/91 for postdoctoral training.

As an assistant she worked at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Metallurgy, Department of Mechanics. Since she was selected as assistant professor in 1989, she started giving lectures independently. Since then, she has held lectures at the Mechanical, Building, Architectural, Metallurgical and Electrical Engineering faculties in the field of Mechanics.

She has participated in the implementation of a number of international projects that she attended at the Florida State University (USA), La Sapienza (Rome, Italy). She is also the holder of projects financed by WUS Austria, where she spent one-month training in England on Bolton University (2004) and Patras University (2006) in Greece.

As an author and co-author, she published two university textbooks, as well as a co-author of a monograph. She has published over sixty scientific papers in domestic and international journals, as well as in international and domestic congresses and conferences.

She is fluent in English, advanced in Russian language.
