Biography - Kavarić Sreten+

Sreten J. Kavarić was born on September 15, 1960 in Titograd (today Podgorica), Montenegro. He finished elementary school in 1974 and graduated from Gymnasium "Slobodan Škerović" in 1979.

In 1984, dr Kavarić completed studies at the Medical Faculty in Novi Sad and concluded his specialization in internal medicine at the Belgrade Medical School in 1992.

Kavarić narrowly specialised in endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade in 1998. With a specialist thesis on "The significance of calcitonin in patients with nodular thyroid" (mentor Prof. dr Vera Popovic Brkić).

Later on, in 2004, Kavarić was awarded the title of Master of endocrinology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade with thesis "The level of Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) in patients treated for acromegaly" (mentor Prof. dr Vera Popovic Brkić).

More recently, in September 2018, Kavarić recieved his PhD degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade. Address of the doctoral thesis was "The significance of vitamin D in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus" (mentor: Prof. dr Vera Popovic Brkić).

Kavarić's long career began in December, 1984 at the Health in Titograd. From 1988 to 1988, he covered the role of Head of the Health Care Department of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro. Since 1998 he works at the Clinical Center of Montenegro while from the beginning of 2008, Kavarić started performing duties of Director of the Clinic of Internal Medicine.

Kavarić is a member of many European medical associations and societies, such as the EASD (Europian Association for Study in Diabetes) and ESE (Europian Society for Endocrinology), and the Chairman of the National Diabetes Commission in Montenegro.

Sreten J. Kavarić is a teaching assistant at the Medical Faculty in Podgorica, as well as author and co-author of 4 papers published on SCI Master Journal List.

He married Maja Kavarić in 1989 and they have four children.
