Biography - Mirković Dijana

Dijana Mirković was born in Nikšić, where she finished her primary and secondary school education. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Montenegro in Nikšić with a degree in English language and literature in 2004. She received her Masters degree at the same University where, in June 2013, she defended her Master’s thesis entitled The Function of the Motif of Torture in the Novels of William Golding. She attended a doctoral programme at the Faculty of Philology of the University in Banja Luka and defended her PhD thesis entitled The Concept of Characterization in Katherine Anne Porters Fiction on 22 October 2021.

Dijana got her first professional experience at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić as a part-time associate teacher. She completed her internship at the primary school “Ratko Žarić“ in Nikšić. She was employed as a project manager and administrative assistant and ran projects aimed to promote youth programmes at the NGO “Local Democracy Agency”. In the company “Ening Ltd. Nikšić”, she had considerable professional experience of administrative assistance and interpretation. She worked on translation of the European Commission’s Questionnaire organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in Podgorica. Dijana has worked at the English Language and Literature Department, at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić, since 2014 and has taught undergraduate, specialist and master-level courses. She is currently teaching the following courses: Medieval English Literature, English Literature of the Renaissance and Restoration, 19th Century English Literature, 20th Century English Literature, Contemporary British Literature, Contemporary Native American Literature, Business Communication with Project Work as well as English for Specific Purposes I and English for Specific Purposes II at the Psychology Department of the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić.

Her main areas of interest include Anglo-American literature and culture, and literary theory and criticism. She has participated in international conferences both at home and abroad. She has been engaged in interpretation and has been hired as an interpreter at numerous workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by various non-governmental organizations and enterprises.
