Biography - Knežević Aleksandra

Aleksandra Knezevic was born in Podgorica, where she finished secondary music school and  graduated from at Academy of Music at the Department of General Music Pedagogy. Under mentorship of prof. Darinka Matic-Marovic she completed postgraduate master studies -  Diploma at the Department of Conducting.

After graduation, she worked as a freelance editor in the desk classical music Radio Montenegro. At the same time she worked as an accompanist and assistant conductor of the choir KUD "Stanko Dragojević", and with this ensemble she appered  in many halls in Montenegro and Serbia. Over the years, the childrens choir "Sunflower" and the festival orchestra RTVCG directs the overall program at music festivals in Montenegro. In 1994, she founded the Womens Choir of Cultural Center in Bar, and with this ensemble has performed at numerous events including the concert on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the first International Film Festival in Bar.

As part of the concert area, marking the twentieth anniversary of the Music Academy, entrusted her preparation choral part of the ensemble for the performance of Vivaldis "Gloria", one of the most important works of Baroque vocal and instrumental literature.

During 2003, she served as the head of the Chamber Choir of the Music Academy under the project of cooperation with Skadar choir "Prenk Jacob." United choruses from Cetinja and Skadar under her  leadership presented works of contemporary and Montenegro Albania composer among which is great success with the composition performed for "Apple" of Montenegro by Senada Gačevića.

In the light of the 150th Anniversary of the P.P. Njegoš (biggest montenegrian poet and philosoph) organized by the University of Montenegro, choir and instrumental ensemble Music Academy under her leadership performed work Vojin Komadina "Počitajemi" written on Njegoš verses.

Since 1998, conductor Aleksandar Knežević is the principal of the Women and Mixed Choir of the Music Academy.
