Biography - Perović Drago

Drago Perovic was born on January 8, 1970 in Nikšič, where he completed his primary (1984) and secondary school education (1988). He received his undergraduate degree in philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić in 1994 and attended a  post-graduate programme in the Department of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. He defended his master’s thesis entitled Time and historicity (Heidegger's early understanding of time) on January 18, 1999. At the same university, on January 18 2006, he defended his doctoral thesis Heidegger and Levinas: ontological and ethical differences and the question of human community.

 He was twice a visiting scholar in the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Vienna, in 1999 and 2001/03 respectively (three months each time).

In October 1994 he became a teaching assistant in the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić. He taught the following courses: History of Philosophy IV, Ontology (years 3 and 4) and in 1996/97 he started teaching History of Philosophy III. In 1999 his position of teaching assistant was reaffirmed. In September 2005, after submitting his doctoral theses, he started teaching the following subjects: Philosophy- Fundamental Concepts and Problems and Disciplines of Philosophy. In the spring semester of 2007 he was elected Associate Professor for the subjects Philosophy- fundamental Concepts and Problems, Disciplines of Philosophy, History of Philosophy III and The 19^th Century History of Philosophy. In 2012 he was re-elected Associate Professor for the same subjects. He also teaches History of Political and Social Theory and The Contemporary Theories in Sociology in the Department of Sociology. As a guest professor he held lectures in the Academy of Arts in Trebinje (an aesthetic group of courses) and at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Holy Basil of Ostrog in Foča (a group of courses in the area of history of philosophy).
