Biography - Mandić Svetlana

Svetlana Mandić was born in Nikšić, where she finished elementary and high school. She was awarded the "Luča" diploma. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić and obtained the diploma of a teacher of Biology and Chemistry; she was awarded as the best student of the mentioned Faculty. She worked as a chemistry and biology teacher in elementary school "Bajo Pivljanin" in Donja Brezna, as well as in elementary school "Braća Topalović" in Plužine, where she implemented a number of projects (among other things, she started and edited the journal “Pivsko oko”). She was the president of the Association of young ecologists of Nikšić, where she also started and edited the journal "Eko Sat".

Completed training for the implementation of “Drug abuse prevention programme in primary schools” organized by UNICEF, Ministry of Education & Science of Montenegro and the Health Care Institute of Podgorica (Becici, 2002).

She graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in Podgorica, study programme Journalism- Bachelor (“B”–9.28), Specialist (“A”–9.53) and Master studies (“A”–9.80). Her Master's thesis was "Writing about people with disabilities in daily newspapers in Montenegro", with the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Stjepan Malović. She has enrolled Doctoral Studies, Department of Journalism, at the Faculty of Political Science in Podgorica (GPA:"A").

Took part in a conference "Dubrovnik Media Days" (2007) organized by  University of Dubrovnik, Croatia: The role of public relations in the creation of public opinion (presentation "PR in war and peace – driving in fog").

She works as a journalist of the daily newspaper "Vijesti" (correspondent from Niksic). She is the winner of the award for reportage (2018) awarded by the Association of Montenegrin Journalists. Occasionally writes for the Journal of Engineers Chamber of Montenegro "Pogled".

She works as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University of Montenegro, teaching the following subjects: Introduction to Journalism, Theory and Technique of Journalism, Writing for Print Media, Journalism Ethics, Press and Agencies, Public Relations). She was a member of the editorial board that worked on publication of the Monograph on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, as an independent university unit (2018).
